4 In this lesson, we will start by recapping our knowledge from Week 1 on Greek Myths and grammar for writing. We will then read how Zeus punished mankind as well as Prometheus through Pandora’s box. We practise reading for meaning and then apply our knowledge to some bigger questions about the significance of this myth to our lives today. CLICK HERE
5 In this lesson, we start by reviewing our understanding of word classes. Then, we will explore the meaning of the word ‘connotations’ and practise noting down the connotations of different words. We then bring our knowledge together by exploring how connotations can affect the meaning of different texts using examples from Greek Myths. CLICK HERE

This fantastic set of lessons explores Narrative poetry
Lesson Learning Objectives/brief overview Link
1 This lesson, we will recap how punctuation can be used to emphasise meaning in poetry, focusing on endstopping, enjambment and caesura. We will look at a poem called The Slave Mother by Frances E.W. Harper to help us understand how poets might use punctuation to make meaning. CLICK HERE
2 This lesson, we will begin to look at an experimental narrative poem called Goblin Market, by Christina Rossetti. Our focus will be on reading for meaning and understanding. You will need a pen and paper. CLICK HERE
3 This lesson, we will explore some of the interpretations of the narrative poem we started to look at last lesson: Goblin Market, by Christina Rossetti. We will learn about how allusions are often used in literature and begin to develop our own personal response to the text by analysing and evaluating the methods used. CLICK HERE
