MIND Project

Chiswick School is working on a whole-school approach to mental health with the support of the Charity 'Mind'. During the summer of 2019, a group of Year 9 student representatives completed a sponsored silence raising £900 for the charity. Subsequently, the student council invited a representative from MIND to come in and talk to our students during 'Hero and Heroine Day'.

As a result of all this hard work from the students on the school council and the form representatives, MIND got in contact with us to offer us a wonderful opportunity. The first stage was to ask students, parents and school staff to complete a survey about mental health in school. We had a huge response from this and the results are due to us in the week beginning Monday 4th November.

Following on from this a team of students, parents and staff will come together to analyse the results and start to action plan around mental health and wellbeing at Chiswick School. From January we will be putting that action plan into place, which we hope will include training student ambassadors and providing Mental Health First Aid training for staff and students.

We are so excited about this project. As a school community we all know that it is vital to look after the mental health and wellbeing of the staff, students and parents involved with our school and this is a real step forward in creating an approach that is fit for purpose in the modern world.

We will be sending out an email in due course inviting staff, students and parents to be involved in the action planning stage so please look out for this and get involved.

Thanks as always for your support.
