W4 Plinth Reveal

The W4 plinth is a big piece of art work outside Turnham station. Every 6 months it is changed for a new piece of art work, in fact just over a year ago our piece of artwork was proudly displayed. Each year, as part of the unveiling, Chiswick School is invited along to perform songs to entertain the crowd. Each year we try and give something different. This year we decided to take a small number of students to sing a few songs on the guitar. We took two of our sixth formers, and a small group of performing arts singers as well. The two sixth formers played a variety of songs from Cat Stevens to the Beatles, while the small group sang Taylor Swift songs. As always the singers did us proud and were warmly received by the audience.

Ballet 4Life

Ballet 4Life are an award winning dance school based in Chiswick. We are delighted that they are coming to Chiswick School to deliver a six week programme on basic and intermediate ballet to a group of Year 7s and 8s. The group, made up of students who participate in the performing arts, are a mixture of boys and girls and have really taken up the challenge. Each Monday they arrive at the dance studio, dance gear on and ready to plie and pirouette. It is hoped that by the end of the programme we can encourage yet more boys to participate in dance.

Mono/Duo

The Year 13 Performing Arts students are busy applying and auditioning for drama schools and universities. To prepare them for this we put on a small show Mono/Duo. This show was a combination of monologues that the students are taking to audition and a few duologues that they have been working on as well. In total we had 13 monologues in the evening from Shakespeare to Godber. The evening was a great success with a very good sized audience. The evening was also an opportunity for us to use Hogarth Youth and Community Centre facilities, as this is something we are keen to use not just for performances but also as a rehearsal space for our many productions.
