Year 13 Celebration Evening

Deep in conversation a student and teacher talk on into the evening unaware that the rain was not falling but that they were sitting in the line of fire of the sprinklers.

Screaming from the club house did not alert the listener to the discovery of a gruesome event but rather indicated the joy at the song choice of the DJ.

Yes, it was the Year 13 leavers’ celebration.

We met pre moonlight at the Dukes Meadows Golf course to celebrate the final chapter in our year groups’ school career. Prizes were given and the choices of the recipients was appreciated by the winner and the assembled class mates.

After a brief welcome from Mr Williams, he was saving his fire for his closing address, we heard from our senior students Amber & Max. They spoke of the joy of friendship and the support of their peers. They thanked the staff, on behalf of the year group, for the help, guidance, knowledge and fun that they had shared.

Fittingly, Xing, who had always been at the centre of the musical life of the school took to the piano to play Rachmaninoff’s Prelude No. 5 perfectly.

Mr & Mrs Ames Lewis joined us to present the annual Marcus award which is in memory of their son, a former Chiswick student. Our recipients this year as voted for by the year group were Xing and Kedest. They were chosen as best fitting the essence of the prize which looks for the students who bring joy. The person who brightens your day just by being there.

The awards ended with a farewell address from Ms Rider and a return of Mr Williams on fine form proffering his collected wisdom on how to succeed in life.

Now it was party time. A fine BBQ, pleasant conversation and much joyous dancing.

A totally lovely evening and a great way to celebrate after all the hard work of the final exams.

As always, the 6th Form are very grateful for the financial support of the PTA which makes the whole event possible.
