Silver Duke of Edinburgh Practice Expedition: A Showcase of Resilience and Teamwork

On the 7th and 8th of July, 50 dedicated students took part in their Silver Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) practice expedition, demonstrating remarkable determination, teamwork, and resilience over two challenging days.

Throughout the expedition, students navigated their way through tough terrain, unpredictable weather, and long hours of walking— all while carrying full expedition kits. Despite the physical demands, every participant showed a strong commitment to the challenge and to supporting one another as part of their teams.

This experience not only allowed students to put key skills into practice—such as navigation, planning, leadership, and problem- solving—but also highlighted their ability to stay motivated and work collaboratively under pressure. Staff supervising the event praised the students’ positive attitudes and perseverance, noting how each group grew stronger and more cohesive as the journey progressed.

All 50 students should be incredibly proud of their efforts. Their hard work and dedication over these two days have laid a solid foundation for their assessed expedition and serve as a fantastic example of what can be achieved through resilience and teamwork.
