We are seeking to appoint an exceptional Head of Geography to lead and develop our Geography department, shaping high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and visionary leader who can inspire students and staff, uphold high academic standards, and contribute to the wider life of the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership of the Geography department, delivering an ambitious and coherent curriculum that develops geographical knowledge and skills from Key Stage 3 through to A-Level.
  • Lead, support and develop department staff through professional dialogue, coaching and collaborative planning.
  • Monitor and evaluate teaching, assessment and pupil progress, using data to secure high standards of attainment and outcomes.
  • Promote enrichment and student engagement through fieldwork, trips and extra-curricular opportunities.
  • Contribute to whole-school priorities, including curriculum development, character education and school improvement.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with substantial experience of teaching Geography across secondary key stages.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience, with a clear vision for Geography education and the ability to drive improvement.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and understanding of current curriculum developments.
  • Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to inclusive education and the personal development of every student.
