Year 10
Ever since I was very small, music has been an integral part of my life, which is why I am so overwhelmingly grateful that the Chiswick music department is so strong and filled with such an array of diverse musical talents that consistently inspire me to be better. The transition between year 6 and year 7 was really difficult for me initially, and I was riddled with anxiety and nerves during my first couple of weeks (or months). Thankfully, my affinity for music ushered me to the music department, and for that I am eternally thankful. Through music, my confidence has increased exponentially and I have met some of my favourite people ever. I am also so lucky as we have been exposed to some incredible experiences and venues to perform in, such as singing in King's College Cambridge.
My personal journey with music at Chiswick started as soon as I began secondary school, when I was urged to join a new year 7 band, which I was sceptical of at first as it was totally new to me, however performing with my bandmates and the rest of the supportive and encouraging music community will forever be one of my core school memories. In turn, being in a band helped me further refine my musical abilities and exposed me to different techniques that I wasn't previously familiar with. The band has since disbanded, but due to the huge variety of different musical groups and ensembles that Chiswick offers, I know I will always have a place and purpose, whether it be playing in a band, orchestra or even singing, in the music department.
