Languages Week 2026

From Monday 21st to Friday 25th September, Chiswick School celebrated Languages Week and its multicultural community through a variety of events and activities organised by the Languages Department.

On Monday, Year 8 took part in a school-wide treasure hunt, combining language skills, their favorite school subjects, and general knowledge.

On Tuesday, Year 9 had the opportunity to take part in a Pétanque competition. While we may not have had the beaches of Marseille or the chirping cicadas, the competition was fierce!

On Tuesday evening, Year 7 enjoyed their very own Cinema Night, watching The Simpsons in German and Asterix & Obelix in French.

On Wednesday, Chiswick hosted the very first, and certainly not the last—, Waiter Race / Course de serveurs / Kellnerlauf for Year 10. Concentration, agility, and speed weren't always on display, but laughter certainly was!

We rounded off the week back with Year 7, who completed their Language Passports handed out earlier in the week. Packed with challenges and quizzes, these passports once again blended cultural, linguistic, and global knowledge across science, history, maths, geography, and more.

Our students' knowledge was also put to the test during form time quizzes. In addition, Frau Greenwood and Madame Normand led the morning assemblies, highlighting the career pathways and opportunities that languages can open up in the professional world.
