Wir waren in Köln!
Being in school is fun, but sometimes you need to jump on a coach after school, and drive all night to get to Cologne for even more fun!
We packed a lot into our trip. We shopped for a delicious German breakfast and then tram- hopped our way into the city centre. There we did a walking tour to see town halls and Roman sewers, a bridge full of padlocks and an amazingly beautiful cathedral. We admired the lace-like decorations and the ghoulish gargoyles, which would have been even more dramatic with rain water pouring from them!
In the afternoon we went round the Chocolate Museum, learning about and tasting chocolate - maybe not quite in equal measure … and had a wonderful boat tour on the Rhine, from which we were able to see the beautiful cathedral sharply silhouetted on the horizon.
We went inside the cathedral and shopped for souvenirs - and then headed back to the hotel for some delicious food and some rest.
We had a great time and saw so much! Many thanks must go to the PTA for their generous support of the trip. Vielen Dank!!!
