Cricket — A Sport on the Rise at Chiswick

Cricket has had a brilliant half term — on the field, in the nets, and through some special one-off events.

Cricket Club

Our cricket club, running every Thursday, has been a real success story. We are very proud of our growing partnership with Chiswick Cricket Club, and we are enormously grateful to Rob Fernandes and Chiswick Cricket Club, who lead our sessions. Students have been training on the club's brand-new cricket nets — a fantastic facility that has raised the standard of our coaching and given our players a genuine taste of the club game. After half term, the focus shifts to fixtures, with Year 7 and Year 8 matches lined up against other schools as well as inter-house competitions. An exciting period ahead.

World Cricket Day

World Cricket Day was a real highlight of the term — and a fantastic showcase of our partnership in action. Run in conjunction with Chiswick Cricket Club, the day saw over 30 students take part in a series of cricket games, culminating in a brilliantly competitive students vs staff match. The atmosphere was superb — plenty of skill on display, even more laughter, and just the right amount of friendly rivalry. A huge thank you to Chiswick Cricket Club for helping to make it such a memorable occasion.

A Visit From Chloe Able, Scottish Cricket International

Another particular highlight was welcoming a Scottish Cricket International into school for an indoor cricket session. It is not every day that students get to learn directly from someone who has played the game at the highest level, and the experience left a lasting impression — sharpening skills, raising aspirations, and reminding everyone just how far hard work can take you.
