Year 9 Bring French Learning to Life in St Omer

Our Year 9 pupils recently returned from an unforgettable trip to St Omer, where they fully immersed themselves in French language and culture. From the hands-on experience of baking traditional loaves to the confidence-building challenge of ordering their own pains au chocolat in French, the students truly brought their classroom learning to life.

Beyond the bakery, the group tackled a large treasure hunt at the château, drawing on their knowledge of cultures and languages from around the world. They also showed great bravery in sampling local delicacies such as snails (though these were not approved unanimously…!).

The trip ended on a high note with a visit to Boulogne-sur-Mer and Europe’s largest aquarium, where pupils got up close with penguins, otters, and even stingrays. It was a fantastic opportunity for the students to broaden their horizons and create lasting memories.
