Ski Trip 2026

Over the February half term, we took 80 Year 8 and 9 students to La Massella and La Molina for the annual ski trip.

After a long travel day, we woke up on Day 1 to excited faces, all keen to get onto the slopes, and this enthusiasm continued throughout the week. The students exceeded all of our expectations. The beginners showed resilience and learnt a great deal from their instructors; even those who had never skied before made significant progress, with all students reaching the top of the mountain by the end of the week.

The intermediate and advanced groups also improved their abilities and techniques. The instructors were very impressed and even introduced them to jumps, which they all thoroughly enjoyed.

It was fantastic to hear all the stories of their adventures on the slopes. Each evening, we celebrated our achievements as a group. It was great to see so many students wanting to nominate others for awards, including perseverance, bravery, skills demonstrated on the slopes, and supporting others.

We had students who faced their fears. One example was a student who did not want to go on a chair lift, but after lunch decided to give it a try. When he returned, his face was beaming —he had reached the top of the mountain and loved it.

Even the instructors joined in and wanted to nominate a student after one of our group gave them a chocolate bar as a thank you —something they said they had never experienced before from other schools.

Our hotel hosted entertainment each evening, which the students thoroughly enjoyed. Some even decided to be brave enough to go on stage, including several of our performing arts students.

Teachers from other schools also approached us to say what a pleasure it was to speak with our students.

It was a fantastic experience for the students to learn and develop their skiing abilities, make new friends, and create lasting memories.
