Music Highlights

14 January | Composition Masterclass

The Nonesuch Orchestra, a well-known London string orchestra, came to Chiswick for a full day of workshops with composer Tim Watts. Joined by students from Park High School and Twyford, the Orchestra played a wide range of student compositions — some written for GCSE and A Level courses, others composed independently. Tim, alongside the students and the Orchestra, gave collective feedback in real time. Yushua, Josh, Victoria and Mojtaba were all featured and did themselves very proud.

21 January | New Songs Open Mic Night

New Songs Open Mic Night was set to be a kaleidoscope of hot new material, until just hours beforehand when burst pipes in Holland Park shut down West London’s water system and put our beloved pubs out of action. We had another go on Monday 2 February at 6:30pm.

29 January | Orchestral Concert

Our Orchestra teamed up with West London Free School for an evening of Sibelius, Stravinsky, Dvořák and many other show tunes for strings and wind at St Nicholas’ Church. We were also treated to a beautiful performance of Bottesini’s Élégie by Mylu, who has been a long-serving member of our double bass section for almost five years. We look forward to working with West London Free School again for Carmina Burana on 21 March.
