- Year 11 History Trip to Berlin
This month, the History Department took 60 Year 11 students on an enriching and memorable trip to Berlin, exploring the city’s history, culture and significance for their Cold War and Weimar and Nazi Germany courses. The group enjoyed a guided walking tour of the city, taking in key landmarks and learning about Berlin’s past.
Students visited several important historical sites, including the Holocaust Memorial, the Palace of Tears, the Topography of Terror, Checkpoint Charlie, the Berlin Wall Memorial and viewing platform, and Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp. Students engaged in thoughtful reflection throughout, and we could not have been more impressed with their maturity.
Alongside the historical visits, students also had time to experience modern Berlin, pick up souvenirs, and take part in a fiercely competitive quiz night, showcasing teamwork and enthusiasm. The trip was both educational and engaging, giving students a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of history while building lasting memories with their peers.
