- Year 12 Trip to A level Sociology Confer...
Year 12 Sociology students attended the annual A level Sociology conference at UCL on 07 January. During the conference the students had the opportunity to hear talks from Sociology professors at the university. Already familiar with the work of Professor Louise Archer, Professor Jessica Ringrose and Professor Stephen Ball, students were very excited to meet these sociologists in real life and have an opportunity to ask them questions about their research and work.
Students particularly enjoyed the talk on ‘Smartphone panics and AI algorithmic literacies’ by Jessica Ringrose, Professor Ashraf Hoque’s talk on ‘Being young, male and Muslim in London’ and Professor Yang Hu’s talk on ‘How mothers matter for intergenerational mobility globally’. The day also provided students with information on Sociology degree courses at UCL and a great insight into the study of Sociology at university.
