The Chiswick School chess team delivered a spirited performance at their recent tournament, earning praise for their determination and resilience. Despite being one of the youngest teams in the competition—facing off against opponents who were often older and more experienced—the students gave it their all.
Matches were intense, with some lasting up to three hours. Chiswick players were frequently the last ones still playing, battling to the end even in defeat. Every team member secured at least one point, including one bye into the next round, and the team improved steadily as the day went on.
Notable performances included Kobe L, who won three of his six matches, and Zack A, who clinched a dramatic win with just 12 seconds remaining on his clock.
It was a valuable experience for the team and a strong foundation to build on for future competitions.
