- Year 7 Shine at PGL Osmington Bay
The Year 7 PGL trip was a huge success, with students and staff enjoying an unforgettable time in the sunshine on the Dorset coast.
Held at Osmington Bay, PGL’s largest centre, the trip offered the perfect mix of fun, challenge, and learning, set against the stunning backdrop of hilly coastline and shimmering turquoise waters stretching as far as the eye could see.
Students took part in a wide range of activities designed to build teamwork, resilience, and confidence. Some highlights included:
- Climbing & Jacob’s Ladder: Students faced their fears and celebrated triumphs as they scaled walls and tackled heights, with teammates providing constant support and encouragement.
- Dragon Boating: Racing in long Viking-style boats was a firm favourite. Synchronising strokes and staying afloat tested teamwork — and, as predicted, Mr Bluer’s boat took the win!
- Archery Tag, Axe Throwing & Rifle Shooting: These activities tested focus and precision, with many discovering hidden talents and new interests.
- Giant Swing: Not for the faint-hearted, this thrilling ride high above the ocean pushed students well out of their comfort zones. The screams were real — and some say staff were heard as far away as Torquay!
The trip left a lasting impression on everyone. Students came away with stronger friendships, a huge sense of achievement, and fantastic memories of trying new things in a supportive, joyful atmosphere.
Staff also appreciated the chance to get to know students outside the classroom and were blown away by their positive attitude, kindness, and brilliant behaviour throughout.
A huge thank you goes to the PTA, who funded the coaches, and to all the staff who generously gave up their time to make the trip happen.
