- Race to the Line North London Area Final
On Thursday 26th June the Design and Technology Department took the two winning teams from our Race to the Line Challenge days to the North London Area Final at Whitefield School. In their teams, students designed and built a sustainable model rocket car using a block of material made from a cornstarch based bio- compostable foam. In order to maximise performance and straight-line stability of the rocket cars, students were encouraged to create and add their own streamlining elements such as aerodynamic fairings and stabilising fins. Students also customised their cars with colourful and innovative designs.
In the afternoon we then raced the cars, using CO₂ propulsion. The day ended with the judging and presentation of awards. One of our teams ‘Shark Attack’ won the Best Engineer Award for their fantastic, aerodynamic car design. Huge congratulations to Evie D, Hattie A, Theo R and Donovan K in 7 Chatsworth.
