Year 9 Rugby

Our first home rugby match for a couple of decades was played last month against Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School after new rugby posts (thanks to the PTA's generosity) were erected on the school field.

The Year 9 boys team were lucky enough to be the first team to grace the new home rugby pitch. They have been training hard all year and were looking to go one better against a team they had played and lost to earlier in the season. The team were kitted out in brand new shirts that were designed by four of the players at Twickenham stadium earlier in the season.

The game was an enthralling encounter with the lead changing hands on several occasions. The weather was equally as indecisive with heavy rainfall and beautiful sunshine both arriving at times during the match. There were superb individual tries scored by Man of the Match, Dante A, Ben H and the captain Oliver D as well as great team tries finished off by Zayn I and Will B. Other notable performances include strong defensive displays from Ihor, Sergio and Leandro as well as hard running from Brandon and Kaylen.

The final score was 41-36 to Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School after they scored a second try. This was a disappointing finish to a superb match, however the performance was massively improved from their previous match and all students should be immensely proud of themselves in how they played against a very well drilled and organised side. The season has finished now and the students are looking forward to playing more games next season home and away.
