World Book Day 2022

Chiswick School has returned to World Book Day in full force this year! The school was filled with characters from an enormous range of stories from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and Alice in Wonderland to Harry Potter, Pinocchio and One Hundred and One Dalmatians!

Of the range of competitions students got involved with today, congratulations need to go to Yusuf (Year 11) for finding the much sought after golden ticket and, just as Charlie does, quickly exchanging this for chocolate. It was a very close call this year but the students who correctly identified the most staff characters goes to Maria and Zahra from 9 Fielding and Lily T, Lily C, Roxanne and Sophie from 7 Fielding! Prizes for the best dressed students go to: Kira (Year 7) as Maze Runner; Eboney (Year 8) as Tanjro Slayer; Emma P (Year 10) as Anne of Green Gables; Aaron W (Year 10) who came in a legendary full Spiderman costume and finally Elisa I (Year 7) who made her own Maleficent wings!

As for the staff, special mentions for the best dressed department has to go to Reception for their immaculate Where's Wally outfits and the E Block for their Mr Men cardboard cutouts, but the Drama Department has taken the winning title this year with eye-catching Queen of Hearts and Mad Hatter costumes! Mr Chavda has claimed the best dressed individual prize for his fantastic Pinocchio (on crutches).

Thank you to everyone who donated; all proceeds will go to the charity FareShare who provide critical food donations to children at risk of hunger over the school holidays. Marcus Rashford’s support of FareShare has been transformational in enabling them to distribute over 12.3 million meals and has followed this campaign by launching a book club to help children enjoy the escapism of reading: "We know there are over 380,000 children across the UK today that have never owned a book, children that are in vulnerable environments. That has to change." Nov 2020.

We're all already looking forward to next year's event!
