Humanities Spring Speakers

A Level Humanities students are enjoying a fantastic programme of speakers this term with weekly talks from world-renowned experts in a range of fields. We started with a bang as Tim Marshall, bestselling geopolitics author, came to speak about the current state of global politics. Students were particularly interested in his views on Australia’s geographical importance in 21st century politics, as well as his predictions about the role space will play politically in the not too distant future!

The following week, Hilary Benn came to speak about domestic politics and his own vast and varied experience in the House of Commons, answering questions about current party politics, a participation crisis amongst young people, and climate legislation. Some Year 13 students were still asking him questions an hour after the event ended!

We were hugely grateful to both speakers for giving us their time so generously, and we look forward to coming talks on issues ranging from global health to the Holocaust, via arts journalism! Talks are taking place every week this term in order to give students as broad an understanding of the Humanities beyond their A Level curriculum as possible.
