Senior Maths Challenge
A group of 30 students from Years 10 and 12 participated in the Senior Maths Challenge in November. The Senior Mathematical Challenge is a 90-minute, multiple-choice competition aimed at students across the UK. It encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems.
The students did astoundingly well with 30% being awarded medals: one gold, 2 silver and 6 bronze. This is a fantastic result!
And just when we thought it couldn't get any better, our gold medallist received the news that he performed so well he was put forward for the Senior Kangaroo Challenge. Entry to the Kangaroo Challenge is by invitation only! He took the challenge in December. We await the results with positive optimism.
And finally, let's wish our Year 9 students success in the forthcoming Intermediate Maths Challenge which will take place early February.
