Rewarding our students

Launch of Student Ambassador Awards

As a school we see the huge benefits of recognising the fantastic accomplishments that our students achieve. We hope you are starting to see little badges glistening on blazers as students proudly wear them to show off their accomplishments. The rewards are two fold:

Bronze Achievement Awards

The circular bronze badges are for students that have gained over 150 achievement points as a result of excellence in the classroom, with no behaviour points at all in the last term. This means that these students are demonstrating excellent conduct, work and effort in class and as a result teachers are rewarding them with achievement points. It also means that their teachers have given no behaviour points as they are behaving exceptionally.

Colourful Subject Ambassador Awards

The colourful badges, with subject names on them, are for students who act as ambassadors for those subjects. In order for the students to be nominated as an Ambassador by their teachers, they must show characteristics and values such as excellent work, excellent effort, excellent homework, excellent contributions to lessons as well as championing that subject and going ‘above and beyond’ with the work and opportunities presented to them. Lots of nominations have gone in for each subject and I know there was a lot of debate to try to narrow it down to two students per subject per year group.

So far we have awarded students with badges in English, Maths, Science, Languages and History.

For both the Bronze and the Subject Ambassador Awards, students are rewarded during their assembly where they are asked to come to the front of the hall so the Head of Department or a representative can pin a badge on their blazer. These badges have been brilliantly received by the children who are wearing them with pride.

In the next few weeks we are continuing with the Subject Ambassador Awards in the Arts, Sport, Geography, Computing and Business Studies.

Each term there will be another two students per year per subject rewarded during assembly so there are still a lot of students to be rewarded.

Look out for the badges on students' blazers.
