Photography

Back

Photography is a creative and exciting subject that is offered as an Art and Design A level endorsement. We strive for all students to be ambitious, creative and independent learners who through Photography will develop their time managements, analysis, evaluative and communication skills.

During the course, students we aim for students to foster a love of the arts. All students will be exposed to how ideas, feelings and meanings can be conveyed using photography, the historical and contemporary development and different styles and genres. Students will be able to understand and question the social, moral, spiritual and cultural impact of the work of others, thus becoming a responsible citizen who strives to be a force for good.

Through themes such as portraiture, landscape, still life and documentary, students will have the opportunity to develop imaginative personal responses creating work using a range of photographic media, techniques and processes. Students are taught both traditional and new technologies building up a portfolio of artwork.

Students have access to excellent facilities with a dedicated Apple Mac photography suite, a dark room and DSLR cameras.  We aim to further develop the culture capital of students by offering opportunities for students to visit galleries and museums regularly.
