Chiswick has a very busy Music Department. In the academic year 2022-23, we had 55 public performances at over 20 different venues.

In this section you can find all the information relating to music groups that we offer, instrumental lessons, scholarship and details of how to book our musicians for external events.

Music Groups

At Chiswick we have a whole array of exciting music groups for your child to get involved in.

Chiswick Voices is our top level senior choir, open to singers in year 9 and above. They have performed at numerous venues both in and out of school and have sung a variety of classical, liturgical, and contemporary music, everything from Faure's Libera Me Domine to Get Around by The Beach Boys. Chiswick Voices rehearses every day from 8:25-8:50am

Chiswick Steel Band is our top level instrumental group. No experience is needed whatsoever, only commitment to learn something new. They rehearse Mondays from 3:10 - 4:10 and have recently learnt songs from Ed Sheeran, Imagine Dragons and Justin Timberlake. The Steel Band is in much demand, having performed at Heathrow Terminal 5, Chiswick High Road, Brentford Stadium as well as many more Schools and Pubs. We also have a Y7 Steel Band that rehearses on Wednesdays

Chiswick Orchestra is our School Orchestra, we meet on a project-by-project basis to perform two big classical concerts a year. Recent repertoire has included Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, Finlandia, Summertime, and The Lord of the Rings Suite

String Ensemble - For players who are at least Grade 4 and above on a bowed string instrument

Brass Ensemble - For all Brass players

Jazz Band - The rhythm section is by invite only, and the Horn section is open to all Sax, Clarinet, Trumpet and Trombone players who are grade 4 and above.

Chiswick Girl's and Boy's Choir - For students in Years 7 and 8, we have separate Boys and Girl's Choirs that rehearse on Friday and Monday lunchtimes respectively.

Bands

Chiswick is very proud to have a strong Band Programme for our best musicians. We currently have 10 bands who rehearse weekly and perform in concerts and local community areas.

Individual lessons and Scholarships

We offer individual lessons in all standard string, woodwind, brass, keyboard and percussion instruments, as well as singing.

All instrumental lessons are provided by Hounslow Music Service at the following rates:

10 x 20 minute lessons - £130 per term

10 x 30 minute lessons - £190 per term

For GCSE and A level Music students, the rate is £79 for 10 x 30 minute lessons per term.

All lessons are weekly and normally happen during the school day. While the lesson day tends to remain the same each week, the timing varies weekly so that a pupil does not miss the same academic lesson two weeks in a row.

Scholarships

We are very pleased to offer Music Scholarships for talented pupils in Year 6 for entry into year 7.

Music scholars receive financial support towards their instrumental lessons, and also receive specialist training to take their music skills far beyond their age group.

We are now welcoming applications for Music Scholarships for aspiring musicians who are joining Chiswick in September 2023.

Simply fill in the form HERE and we'll get in contact.
