Letter to year 9 parents - WEX Factor

Dear Parents,
I am delighted to inform you that the second WEX factor day for year 9 takes place on May 31st. The year group will be visiting Chiswick Business Park where they will have a chance to question a variety of people from a range of careers and jobs. They will also have an opportunity to enhance their CVs and research a variety of careers on line. The day will finish with a session on seizing opportunities. All the work the year group do on the day will contribute to a GCSE equivalent qualification in employment skills.
As on the previous day students should come dressed in attire for business and work. The year group certainly impressed last time and we will be awarding prizes for the most appropriately dressed students. Please support your son or daughter in this and I am sure you will not object if I gently remind you that there is a difference between dress for work and dressing for parties. We will not accept pencil skirts or inappropriate footwear for example. Students should remember that they are representing the school at Chiswick’s premiere workplace which includes companies such as Starbucks and Disney. They need to make a good impression.
9KE, HA, MA and PA will leave by coach for the Business Park at 9 a.m. and return to school at 11.30 when they will have a short break before starting their CV and research work at 11.45.a.m.
9BL, CH, FI and GR will leave for the Business Park at 11.30. returning to school at around 1.50.p.m. These tutor groups will need to eat their main meal at first break.
On this occasion we will not be collecting permission slips for the visit. Should you have any objections , please contact me at the school.
The purpose of the day is to get students thinking about possible careers and the skills and qualities they require. I look forward to year 9 making the most of this exciting opportunity,
