Posted: 19/03/12

Chiswick Schools Art Department have been running their card construction project for the last 3 years and this year is no different.

This year year 9s are following an early GCSE pathways and are creating 'Indian Art and Pattern' inspired 3D art work. The Art team have been collecting cardboard all year and now these boxes are being transformed into masterpieces. The art staff are amazed with the inventiveness and creativity of their students who will finish these sculptures by Easter.
The years 7 and 8s are also taking part in this project and are working in teams to create 'Aboriginal Masks' in year 7 and 'Hindi Deities' in collaboration with the RS Department in year 8. (Images of these to follow)
"It is a messy and intense project for all the staff and students involved, many of whom are giving up their break times to complete these, but is a very rewarding experience with outstanding results." quoted Miss Herd, Subject Leader.
If any parents can spare any old shirts to assist with covering students clothes (along with our aprons) we would be grateful of any donations. (Please send in to school with your child or via the office.)

These ‘Culture Sculptures in their completed forms will be on display as part of the PTAs Summer Arts Festival in the Summer Term.
